Lady Kings Fall Short Against Juneauby Dave LiebenThe Ketchikan Lady Kings lost to Juneau-Douglas in a close game in the opening game of a two-game stand at Kayhi Friday night. The game was close throughout, with no big runs by either team. An Alexis Edwardson three-pointer tied the game at 11, and Juneau led 15-11 at the end of the first quarter. A Chrystal Blair three-pointer put Ketchikan ahead 16-15, and Juneau led 26-23 at the half. The Crimson Bears led by five at the end of the third quarter, and after an Olivia Henderson three-pointer put them ahead 38-32 with about 6:45 left, neither team scored for the next four minutes. A nice play from Kathleen Reno to Tess Seierup made it 43-39, and the Lady Kings pulled within three at one point, but clutch free throw shooting by Juneau's Brittany Fenumiai and Karli Brakes put the game away for the Crimson Bears. The teams play again Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. Read the series preview in the Juneau Empire
